Jeanne May Follow Ivan as a Devastating Hurricane Hitting the Eastern U.S.

Miami, FL (HDW) September 19, 2004 – Tropical Storm Jeanne could become a full strength hurricane and hit the United States by Tuesday, September 21st. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is reporting now that the storm is located about 130 miles east-southeast of San-Salvador in the Bahamas, and it is drifting northward at about 5 miles per hour. Tropical Storm Jeanne would closely follow the devastation wrought by Hurricane Ivan (pictured above) if it did in fact strike the eastern United States early this week. The picture shown below is an actual picture of Tropical Storm Jeanne as it approached the Dominican Republic recently.

At present, tropical storm force winds of 45 miles per hour extend 85 miles from the center of Jeanne. NOAA expects that these winds and the hurricane’s strength may increase within the next 24 hours. The National Hurricane Center of NOAA will continue to give advisories, and has provided the below forecast of the storm’s potential ground track.
